Getting back into things, another session shortly after I returned from my hiatus. We split this into two separate sessions since we quickly ran out of daylight and I wasn't happy with all the shots I had taken. Lola the shepherd mix was quiet and reserved, while Beatrice was lively and ready to go! It was easy to see the type of dynamic between these two: Lola is passing her wisdom onto the young pup. This is why I like to put a few years between my dogs; the elders always help the newest addition learn the ropes.

I worked with these three lovely pups as a surprise for their Dad from their Mom. We met early in the morning while their Dad was at work so he wouldn't be the wiser what we were doing. This was one of my first sessions back after my hiatus, and I finally feel happy with my shooting style again. I've gone back to a bit of my original processing and approach to shooting. I ask the dogs even less to pose and am using a lot more black and whites and flat tones.

I've decided to share personal work here on my blog now as well as client work. The first week of July I went down to Tennessee with my parents to get away and explore some new places. We stayed in a cabin in the mountains. It's been nice to be able to travel a little more lately.

My first blog post since my hiatus back in January...a lot has changed around here. The biggest moment for me was when I decided to jump on that plane and go on an adventure of self discovery with some friends. We hiked into the mountains and slept in a tent in the snow, blanketed by the howls of wolves every night. The entire week we spent following the pack. I learned that sometimes you really just need to get lost in order to find yourself. I left Yellowstone with an entirely different outlook on life, and ever since arriving back in Ohio nothing about my life has been the same.
